Immediately after it became clear that Georgi Kandev wished to be released from the ranks of the Ministry of Interior, President Rumen Radev invited him to a meeting. According to the head of state, Kandev cited solely and exclusively personal motives for his decision, denying any professional reasons.

"This Facebook post was a surprise," commented Radev regarding the way Kandev announced his resignation on social media.

According to the Prime Minister, Kandev expressed great satisfaction with his work at the Ministry of Interior and his constructive relationship with Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev. Various options for his successor as Chief Secretary are currently being considered.
