Geneva became the epicenter of a large-scale initiative aimed at overcoming the challenges of job placement for refugees. The official presentation of the "Train-to-Hire" program took place on July 21, 2025, with the ambitious goal of transforming the professional integration of asylum seekers.

The joint project of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) provides extensive professional training. Experts have selected over 500 candidates from critical conflict zones – Syria, Afghanistan, and Ukraine – who will undergo specialized preparation.

A key element of the program is adapting skills to the specific needs of the labor market. Participants will receive intensive language training, professional qualifications, and specialized competencies directly related to employers' requirements.

Initially, pilot activities will cover three countries – Germany, Italy, and Bulgaria. Employers are directly integrated into the process, which guarantees real employment opportunities after completing the training module.

The strategic vision foresees expanding the program by the end of 2025, with its scope extending to the remaining European Union countries. The innovative approach aims not just for temporary employment, but for permanent professional integration of refugees.
