A New Era in Diagnostic Imaging at the Military Hospital
The Military Medical Academy (MMA) is strengthening its leading position in medicine with the introduction of photon-counting computed tomography. The technology is the only one of its kind, not only in Bulgaria but in the entire region.
"This is a new standard in diagnostic imaging that expands the possibilities for early detection and precise monitoring of diseases," shared Major General Prof. Ventsislav Mutafchiyski.
Why is this device unique?
- High resolution: Allows for the visualization of minimal structural changes in the body.
- Better contrast: Provides detailed images for a more accurate diagnosis.
- Speed: The examination process is significantly faster compared to conventional devices.
Minister of Defense Dimitar Stoyanov emphasized that the MMA remains a benchmark for innovation and professionalism. The new equipment will be available to both hospitalized patients and citizens with a referral for examination.
According to Dr. Rangel Baykushev, Head of the Clinic for Computed Tomography Diagnostics, the team is already undergoing specialized training to operate the scanner's high-tech functions.
