The Road Infrastructure Agency ("API") announced the start of preventive repairs on the "Trakia" motorway and the road to Burgas. The works are planned on several key sections, which will lead to temporary traffic restrictions.
Sections of the motorway in the Pazardzhik and Sliven regions are affected, and the planned activities are aimed at maintaining road safety and comfortable travel.
Repair works in Sliven region
Repair works on an 11-kilometer section in the Sliven region, between the 262nd and 273rd kilometer, began today. Traffic in the lane towards Burgas will be restricted, with traffic running in both directions in the lane towards Sofia. For this purpose, one lane will be designated for traffic in both directions. Increased traffic congestion in this section can be expected, especially during peak hours, potentially creating tension for drivers.
Repair works in Pazardzhik region
Another repair is planned for September 24 - Wednesday - in the Pazardzhik region, on an 8-kilometer section of the motorway between the 90th and 98th kilometer. Here, similarly, traffic in the lane towards Burgas will be restricted, with traffic being redirected in both directions in the lane towards Sofia, with one lane in each direction. There is a possibility of congestion, especially during peak hours.
Reversible traffic during weekends
API has planned reversible traffic during the weekends to ensure smoother traffic flow. On Friday and Saturday there will be two lanes in the direction of Burgas and one towards Sofia. On Sunday, conversely – two lanes towards Sofia and one towards Burgas. The aim is to minimize any potential difficulties for travelers.
Scope of repair works
Extensive repairs are planned. The technological projects provide for a complete replacement of the asphalt pavement, renovation of drainage systems, as well as renovation of road signs, barrier systems and road markings. API has announced that work will be carried out daily, with the aim of completing the works as quickly as possible. The plan is to first repair the lane towards Burgas, then the lane towards Sofia. The repair works are expected to be completed by November 30. The repair works are carried out by "Avtomagistrali" EAD, within the framework of the contract for current repair and maintenance of the "Trakia" motorway.
Appeal to drivers
API apologizes for any inconvenience caused, emphasizing that these repairs are necessary to ensure safety and comfort of travel. The agency calls on drivers to pay increased attention, observe traffic rules and speed limits, and avoid risky overtaking maneuvers.
From today, preventive repairs are also being carried out on the lane towards Burgas, on another nine kilometers of the "Trakia" motorway. The scale of the repair works underlines the commitment to maintaining the good condition of the road infrastructure in the country.
