Travelers on one of Bulgaria's main transport corridors, the _Trakia_ Motorway, will have to contend with temporary traffic restrictions over the next two nights. Traffic in the _Trayanovi Vrata_ tunnel in the direction of Burgas will be stopped to perform important road infrastructure repairs aimed at increasing the safety of all road users.
Details of repair works and traffic organization
The upcoming activities are part of the regular maintenance of facilities that are crucial for ensuring good visibility and safety for drivers. The Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) announced that the repair works will be carried out in two stages. The first stage begins on Wednesday, September 3, at 8:00 p.m. and will continue until 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 4. During this time, the walls of the tube serving traffic to Burgas will be thoroughly cleaned.
The second phase of the repairs will take place on the night of Thursday, September 4, to Friday, September 5. The activities will start again at 8:00 p.m. and will end at 6:00 a.m. During this period, the walls of the same tunnel will be painted. To ensure traffic is not completely interrupted while the repair works are in progress, traffic will be redirected to the tube for Sofia, where it will be two-way.
Appeal to drivers for increased attention
As a result of the changed traffic organization, the RIA is issuing an official appeal to all vehicle drivers. Drivers are urged to exercise maximum caution and strictly follow the placed road signs. It is especially important to maintain distance and not undertake risky overtakes that can endanger not only personal safety but also that of all other travelers.
The agency reminds that regular maintenance of road facilities, such as cleaning and painting tunnel walls, is critical for maintaining optimal driving conditions, especially concerning visibility. The institution emphasizes that this preventive measure is essential for avoiding incidents and guaranteeing trouble-free travel.
