The Main Directorate "Combating Organized Crime" (GDBO) conducted a large-scale operation against illegal distribution of film content, during which two websites violating copyright were shut down.

The specialized police team from the sector in Stara Zagora, assisted by cybercrime experts, carried out the operation on July 24 under the direct supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office - Stara Zagora.

During the investigation, the officers conducted a thorough search of two real estate properties, during which they seized numerous electronic and computer devices. Forensic experts established that a 28-year-old man was the main perpetrator, acting with mercenary intentions.

The operation was conducted in close coordination with Europol, within the framework of the European IMPACT program. The main goal was to dismantle criminal networks specialized in intellectual property violations.

A pre-trial proceeding has been initiated against the suspect under Article 172a of the Criminal Code, which deals with crimes related to the unauthorized use of protected objects.

The police action demonstrated the determination of Bulgarian law enforcement agencies to protect copyrights and counteract digital crime.
