DANS intercepted illegal activity in Sofia
The State Agency for National Security (DANS), in cooperation with the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) and the Sofia Directorate of the Ministry of Interior (SDVR), conducted a successful operation against illegal radio jamming equipment.
The device was located in a strictly guarded complex in the Dragalevtsi district of Sofia.
The powerful jammer was suppressing GPS signal frequencies, which posed serious risks to:
- The normal operation of Sofia Airport;
- The safety of aircraft flying over the capital;
- The communication network of television towers in the region.
At the moment, the investigation is ongoing to identify the owners and the purposes for which the jamming equipment was used.
