Varna and Burgas airports marked a significant increase in traffic in 2025, recording a total of 11% growth compared to 2024. This is according to data from "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management" AD, the operator of the two airports. The two airports served over 3.7 million passengers and over 27,000 aircraft movements.
Varna Airport:
- Welcomed its millionth passenger on August 5th.
- Served over 1.8 million passengers.
- Leading destinations: Sofia, London, Vienna, Istanbul, Frankfurt.
- Most passengers from Germany, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Austria and Poland.
- New flights to Abu Dhabi and Linz.
- Busiest months: July and August.
- 195 tons of cargo transported.
Burgas Airport:
- Welcomed its millionth passenger as early as July.
- Served 1.8 million passengers.
- Leading destinations: London, Prague, Katowice, Tel Aviv, Warsaw.
- Most passengers from Poland, Great Britain, Czech Republic, Germany and Israel.
- Closed to flights from October 30th due to runway rehabilitation.
- Busiest months: July and August.
- 731 tons of cargo and mail.
Michael Roesch, CEO of the concessionaire, announced that runway renewal is planned in Burgas, and a new building for the fire department in Varna.
