The parliamentary opposition from "Democratic Bulgaria" presented a large-scale legislative project for a comprehensive restructuring of the anti-corruption commission, which aims to remove political control over the institution.

MP Nadezhda Yordanova categorically stated in the parliamentary corridors that the current commission will be closed due to its ineffectiveness. According to her, the current model allows excessive interference from the ruling majority.

Experts predict that functions related to identifying conflicts of interest and checking the property of public figures will be transferred to another specialized body. The goal is to achieve greater independence and transparency.

Commenting on the changes in the Criminal Procedure Code, Yordanova emphasized the serious risks from the unlimited powers of the prosecution. According to her, the existing legal framework allows unjustifiably prolonged pre-trial proceedings.

Another representative of the formation - Bozhidar Bozhanov, added that the new structure will be significantly streamlined, focusing on the prevention of corruption practices. He emphasized the removal of "club-like" powers.

Deputy Ivaylo Mirchev expanded the discussion, pointing out that state problems cannot be solved with superficial communication strategies or short-term technical solutions. He emphasized the need for a systemic approach.

The political formation officially called on the president to impose a veto on the controversial legislative texts, motivated by protecting the public interest.
