Public hearing of the new candidates for the CEC
Today at 12:00 p.m. at "Dondukov" 2, Vice President Iliana Iotova is holding a public hearing for candidates for members of the Central Election Commission (CEC). The procedure follows the consultations held on June 9 with the parliamentary-represented parties and coalitions in the 52nd National Assembly.
The distribution of seats in the new composition of the CEC was agreed upon according to parliamentary representation.
Distribution of quotas by political forces:
- "Progressive Bulgaria" Coalition – 7 seats
- "GERB-UDF" Coalition – 3 seats
- "We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria" Coalition – 2 seats
- "Movement for Rights and Freedoms" Party – 2 seats
- "Vazrazhdane" Party – 1 seat
Nominated candidates:
"Progressive Bulgaria" proposes Georgi Horozov for CEC Chairperson. The other members from the group are Desislava Abrasheva, Zinaida Zlatanova, Ivan Karchev, Yordan Vasilev, Lazarina Boneva-Haralampieva, and Stoyanka Tsvetkova.
GERB-UDF nominates Yordanka Gancheva, Georgi Bahanov, and Anna Aleksandrova. Dr. Alina Dobreva and Viara Todeva were proposed by PP-DB, while the MRF put forward Ismail Osman and Tsvetan Enchev. "Vazrazhdane" proposes Margarita Mahaeva as a member and Deputy Chairperson.
Due to two nominations for the position of commission secretary, a draw was held, which determined Yordanka Gancheva (GERB-UDF) for the post, while Ismail Osman (MRF) was nominated for Deputy Chairperson.
