Twelve people were injured as a result of ten serious road traffic accidents in the country in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced on its website. The data raises serious questions about road safety and the need for urgent measures to address the problem.
In the capital, thirty-two minor road traffic accidents were registered, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in which, fortunately, there were no casualties. However, this does not diminish the concern about the total number of incidents.
Since the beginning of the current month, statistics from the ministry show that 186 accidents have been registered. The tragic outcome includes 19 lost human lives and 235 injured. The horrifying figures underline the need for more effective strategies to reduce road trauma.
The analysis of the data for this year reveals an even more alarming picture. Since the beginning of the year, 5818 road traffic accidents have been registered, in which 391 people have lost their lives and 7247 have been injured. Despite this sad statistics, there is also a small light at the end of the tunnel. Comparing with the data from the same period of the previous year, a decrease of six fatalities among road users is recorded during the current year. This may be the result of measures taken, but much more work needs to be done.
