The Bulgarian government is taking targeted measures for psychological rehabilitation of Ukrainian refugees, expanding the scale of social support through a significant increase in funding in 2025.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Policy announced a strategic plan to create specialized counseling centers in three major Bulgarian cities – Sofia, Plovdiv, and Varna. The new units will provide differentiated psychological services, adapted to different age groups.
Experts will offer individual and group therapy sessions aimed at overcoming traumatic experiences related to the military conflict in Ukraine. The programs are implemented through a network of non-governmental organizations with proven experience in working with refugee communities.
Statistical data show serious interest in psychosocial support – by July, over 15,000 Ukrainian citizens have already benefited from the provided services. The 2025 budget has been increased by 30% compared to the previous period, demonstrating consistent care for the refugee community.
