Support for Bulgarian schools abroad
Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" has reaffirmed its full support for Bulgarian Sunday schools abroad. During the 19th annual conference of the Association of Bulgarian Schools Abroad (ABSA), Rector Prof. Dr. Eliza Stefanova expressed her gratitude to the teachers for their educational mission.
"We recognize the efforts you put into this cause... every Bulgarian child, regardless of where they are in the world, must know their roots, language, lineage, and history," stated Prof. Stefanova.
The scale of Bulgarian education abroad
- 401 Bulgarian Sunday schools in 43 countries.
- Over 40,000 students on 6 continents.
- 8 million euros in state funding.
Deputy Minister of Education and Science Prof. Dr. Eng. Senya Terzieva described working with the diaspora as one of the most successful policies of the Bulgarian state. The conference highlighted the aspiration for more young Bulgarians from abroad to return and continue their education in Bulgaria.
