The large peaceful protest in Sofia last night was marred by hooded ultras who provoked violence. They smashed, set fires, and threw objects in front of the police. The Sofia Directorate of Internal Affairs (SDVR) reported over ten arrests, as well as injured police officers and citizens.

Over 10 participants were arrested, at least three police officers were injured, and a dozen citizens sought medical assistance. A reporter from Bulgaria ON AIR was also injured. Protests also took place in other cities.

President Rumen Radev commented that he saw a provocation by the mafia. The chairman of 'We Continue the Change' Asen Vasilev demanded the resignation of Interior Minister Daniel Mitov.

Mayor Vasil Terziev noted the presence of groups with hoods, and 'We Continue the Change' distanced themselves from the violence.

The protests were primarily against the draft budget for 2026.
