Citizens gathered for a protest this evening in front of the municipality building in Burgas. The dissatisfied declared themselves against the upcoming introduction of the euro in our country, stating that they do not accept the change and insist that the Bulgarian lev remain the only means of payment.

The dissatisfied stated that they do not see real benefits from the country's joining the Eurozone, as well as that the euro carries risks. According to them, such a decision should only be made after a national referendum.

During the protest, participants waved Bulgarian flags and chanted “We want our lev” and “No to the euro”. The protesters stated that they will continue to take to the streets until their demands are met. There is an increased police presence on the scene, and the protest is currently proceeding without tension.
