Sofia Municipality Seeks Answers from BNT Regarding "Eurovision 2027"
The Sofia Municipality has sent an official letter to the Director General of the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) requesting full feedback regarding the evaluation of Sofia's bid to host "Eurovision 2027." This follows the public broadcaster's decision to select Burgas as the host of the prestigious contest.
"Transparency does not hinder success. On the contrary – it builds trust," commented Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev.
Why does Sofia want transparency?
- Objective analysis: The Municipality insists on detailed information regarding the evaluation criteria in order to realistically assess its performance.
- Future bids: Identifying weaknesses is critical for preparing Sofia for future international events.
- Publicity: The Sofia Municipality wants permission to publicly present those parts of its bid that are not subject to confidentiality in order to avoid speculation.
The position of the Sofia Municipality
Deputy Mayor for Culture and Tourism Irina Dakova emphasized that the goal is not "inter-city rivalry," but an opportunity for Bulgaria's collective success. According to the municipality, the lack of information regarding the scores limits the possibility for independent analysis and leaves room for false claims.
At present, candidates are bound by confidentiality agreements that prevent the public disclosure of the criteria, but Sofia hopes for a constructive dialogue with BNT in the name of public trust.
