The lowest temperatures in December in our country will be between minus 10 and minus 5 degrees, and the highest - between 15 and 20 degrees, Mariana Popova - a meteorologist at the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH), announced to BTA, presenting the weather forecast for December in the country.

In December, average temperatures are expected to be above normal, and rainfall - around and below normal.

This year, in December, the average monthly temperature is expected to be around and above normal, which in Northern Bulgaria and in the high fields is from 0 to 2 degrees, in the Upper Thracian lowland - 2-3 degrees, along the Black Sea coast and in the southernmost regions - 4-6 degrees, and in the mountains - from minus 8 to minus 2 degrees.

The monthly sum of rainfall will be around and below normal, which in most of the country is between 40 and 60 liters per square meter, in the mountains - up to 70 liters per square meter, and in the southernmost regions - between 70 and 110 liters per square meter.

December will start with relatively warm weather, but in the middle of the first ten days there is a probability of precipitation

The month will start with calm and relatively warm weather for the period. It will also be mostly sunny with scattered high and medium cloudiness. In the flat part of the country in the morning there will be conditions for fog or low cloudiness; in some places they will remain longer and the temperatures there will remain lower.

In the second half of the first ten days of December, the probability of a period with precipitation and a decrease in temperatures increases.

The astronomical winter begins on December 21, around Christmas there will be precipitation, but the temperatures will be higher than usual

At the beginning of the second ten days it will still be variable and with conditions for precipitation, but subsequently, until the middle of the third ten days, the probability is greater that it will be dry most days, almost without precipitation. Temperatures will remain higher than the climatic norms.

Around and after Christmas, until the end of the year, the probability of precipitation increases. Temperatures will remain higher than usual for the period, and it is more likely that in the flat part of the country the precipitation will be rain.

The astronomical winter begins on December 21 at 5:03 pm, the meteorologist from NIMH Mariana Popova announced.
