The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued a yellow alert for heat today. Temperatures of up to 38 degrees, sunny weather, and local thunderstorms are expected.

Dangerously hot weather: Yellow code for almost the entire country

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has issued a warning for potentially dangerous weather due to high temperatures. The yellow code covers a large part of the country, with the only exceptions being some areas along the Black Sea coast and parts of Western Bulgaria.

Maximum temperatures today will reach between 33° and 38°, with thermometers in the capital, Sofia, showing around 33°.

Regional forecast:

The wind will be light to moderate, mainly from the northeast. Please be careful and avoid prolonged exposure outdoors during the hottest hours of the day.
