Dangerously hot weather: Yellow code for almost the entire country
The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has issued a warning for potentially dangerous weather due to high temperatures. The yellow code covers a large part of the country, with the only exceptions being some areas along the Black Sea coast and parts of Western Bulgaria.
Maximum temperatures today will reach between 33° and 38°, with thermometers in the capital, Sofia, showing around 33°.
Regional forecast:
- In the plains: Mostly sunny, with the development of cumulus clouds and short-term showers with thunderstorms in the afternoon in Southwestern and Central Southern Bulgaria.
- Along the Black Sea: Sunny and cooler with temperatures between 27° and 29°. The sea water temperature is 24°-25°.
- In the mountains: Sunny before noon, with a risk of showers in the Rila-Rhodope region.
The wind will be light to moderate, mainly from the northeast. Please be careful and avoid prolonged exposure outdoors during the hottest hours of the day.
