President Rumen Radev and His Holiness Daniil - Bulgarian Patriarch, officially launch the large-scale national initiative "On the Path of Faith", which aims to revive the pilgrimage movement in the country.
In the heart of Sofia, in the "St. Sofia" temple, a solemn water blessing will be served, followed by a litany procession with the participation of clergy, institutional representatives and citizens. The route will connect the "St. George" rotunda with emblematic spiritual sites, presenting the rich cultural and religious heritage of Bulgaria.
The first approved pilgrimage route "The Rila Miracle Worker" will trace the historical path of the relics of Saint Ivan Rilski. For several days, hundreds of pilgrims will walk the sacred route from Sofia to Rila Monastery, following the traditional spiritual path.
The project is being implemented under the patronage of the head of state and with the blessing of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church. According to Prof. Pavel Pavlov from Sofia University, the initiative has been developed over the past two years with the ambition to create a comprehensive system for pilgrimage movement on a national scale.
This large-scale spiritual project not only preserves historical memory but also provides a unique opportunity for Bulgarians to discover their roots, sacred places and spiritual traditions through active pilgrimage.
