The gala concert "Nestiya with the songs of Lyubka Rondova," dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the folk singer's birth, will take place this evening in Aheloy. The event is being held under the patronage of Mayor Dimitar Neychev, the organizers from "Nestiya" announced.
The program features a number of solo performers, including Dzhina Ivanova from "Tramway No. 5", Suli Lin from France, Georgia Raykova, Stefka Petkova, Neli Evgenieva, gadulka player Stefani Miteva, and Elizabeth Armen.
Taking the stage will also be the dance groups "Ognenite" from Busmantsi, "Zalyanitsa" from Boychinovtsi, "Hortse" from Sofia, the dance formation "I can do it too" at the Center for Social Rehabilitation and Integration - Slatina District, Sofia, as well as performers from Erkech. The concert will also include the authentic folklore group "Zdravets" from Pomorie and the Choir for Greek and Macedonian songs from Nessebar.
The dancing and singing competition in memory of the singer has already visited Pomorie, Sveti Vlas, and Nessebar. The series of one-hour concerts along the Southern Black Sea coast will continue with the participation of groups from Montenegro, Belarus, Slovakia, Serbia, Romania, and Ukraine.
The "Nestiya" Art and Folklore Center, chaired by Hristo Stankov, has a long history of promoting the work of Lyubka Rondova. Between 2001 and 2008, the center organized over 200 concerts under the title "With the songs of Lyubka Rondova," in which the singer took part personally. Prior to that, as the chief choreographer of the "Pirina" dance formation, Stankov and Lyubka Rondova carried out 300 concert events in the country, across the Balkans, and in Europe, including initiatives like "The longest horo in Europe."
