Radev on road safety: Mentality is what matters
Prime Minister Rumen Radev emphasized that road problems are not solved solely by replacing guardrails, but require a change in the mentality of all road users and institutions. A full inspection of all guardrails is forthcoming, including those produced in 2024.
"The problem is comprehensive – it is not about changing guardrails, but about changing the mentality," Radev stated.
2026 Budget: "A Budget of Reality"
Regarding the new state budget, the Prime Minister was categorical that the administration is building on a solid foundation. He revealed shocking abuses from previous periods:
- 1 billion BGN halted for guardrails.
- 47 million BGN cut for "branch trimming" by the National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC).
- Termination of absurd public procurement contracts, such as a company that billed 250,000 BGN for mowing during the winter.
Radev pointed out that efforts are aimed at stabilizing sectors such as dairy farming, where 170 million EUR in aid is planned, and controlling the budget deficit.
Church and Education
In a dialogue with the Holy Synod, the Prime Minister expressed support for the introduction of the subject "Virtues and Religion" in schools, emphasizing the need for a broad public consensus on the upbringing of young people.
