Temporary traffic organization on road I-5

The Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) informs drivers about upcoming changes to the traffic organization on the main road I-5, which connects the interior of the country with Greece via the Makaza pass. Repair activities will be concentrated in the area of the village of Chernoochene, Kardzhali district.

Traffic will be carried out in a narrowed lane, but traffic will not be completely stopped.

Schedule of repair activities

Additional restrictions

In addition to the repair works near Chernoochene, teams from the road agency will remove advertising facilities in the section between the cities of Kardzhali and Momchilgrad (from the 346th to the 373rd kilometer). The repair of the 21-kilometer section of road I-5 (between the 319th and 340th km) is part of a large-scale preventive plan that started in November 2025.

Advice to drivers: Drive with increased caution, observe the temporary signaling, and maintain a safe speed in areas with repair equipment.
