One person died and another was injured in fires across the country in the past 24 hours, the General Directorate "Fire Safety and Protection of the Population" (GDPSPC) announced on its website.
A 55-year-old man died in a fire in an apartment in Varna. Fire crews broke down the front door and found the person with burns on his face, fallen between the bed and the door of the room. He was taken out and handed over to an "Emergency Aid" team, which determined that the man had died. The cause of the fire was smoking in bed.
A 43-year-old man was injured in a fire in an apartment in Veliko Tarnovo. The cause of the fire was a technical malfunction in an air conditioning unit.
A total of 58 fires were extinguished in the country in the last 24 hours. There was material damage in 21 fires, eight of which were in residential buildings.
Fire teams responded to 92 calls for incidents. 31 rescue operations and support operations were carried out. Of these, five were in accidents and 25 were for providing technical assistance.
