Fire near Skala Village Localized, No Danger to People

The fire front is over 10 km, with over 16,000 decares burned. 50 people were evacuated and have returned home. No danger to the village.

Sungurlare. The fire near Skala village is localized but not yet completely extinguished. There is no immediate danger to the settlement, reported regional governor Vladimir Krumov.

Situation on the Ground

The fire front exceeds 10 km and mainly covers pine plantations. According to current data, over 16,000 decares of mixed forest and vineyard areas have been burned.

Evacuation and Safety

50 residents were preventively evacuated to the center of the village. People returned to their homes last night. The situation is being constantly monitored.

Forces and Equipment on Site

21 fire brigade teams, forestry workers, and volunteers are working on the ground. At 7:30 AM, another 30 military personnel from the Yambol formation are expected to join them.

Probable Cause

The preliminary version points to human negligence — most likely an unextinguished cigarette butt that led to the rapid fire spread.

Firefighting continues for the reignited fire in Pirin, where nearly 100 decares of new territories have been affected. Aerial equipment is expected on site today, reported Blagoevgrad fire department director Commissioner Valentin Vasilev.

A fire has also been registered in the area of Montana village Studeno Buche. Mainly dry grass and shrubs burned, with flames reaching a pine forest and the cemetery.
