Most vegetables and fruits continue to rise in price on the Bulgarian commodity exchanges in the third week of February, according to data from the weekly bulletin of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT).
The Market Price Index (MPI), which reflects the movement of food prices wholesale in Bulgaria, increased by 1.75% to 2.563 points compared to 2.519 points a week earlier. The base level of the index of 1,000 points is from 2005.
Zucchinis increased in price by 5.30% to 2.74 euros per kilogram. The price of tomatoes is up by 1.96% and they are traded at 1.98 euros per kilogram, and cucumbers - by 2.12% to 2.60 euros per kilogram. Carrots are offered at 1.61% more to 0.63 euros per kilogram. The price of green peppers rose by 1.20% to 2.70 euros, and of red peppers - by 6.19% to 2.71 euros per kilogram. Ripe onion increased in price by 1.69% to 0.48 euros per kilogram. Potatoes have become cheaper - 12.89% to 0.50 euros per kilogram, and cabbage, which is sold wholesale at 8.91% less to 0.47 euros per kilogram.
Among fruits, the biggest price increase this week is also for lemons - by 10.51% and they are traded at 2.04 euros per kilogram. The price of tangerines increased by 4.80% to 1.44 euros per kilogram, of oranges - by 3.39% to 1.28 euros per kilogram. Apples have become cheaper - by 0.17% and are sold at 1.20 euros per kilogram, as well as bananas - by 3.03% to 1.47 euros per kilogram.
The price of cow's cheese is down by 1.86% to 6.11 euros per kilogram, and the price of 'Vitosha' kashkaval cheese increased by 1.20% to 9.77 euros per kilogram. Yogurt (3% and over 3% fat) increased in price by 5.42% to 0.70 euros for a 400 g cup, and fresh milk is traded at 1.14% less to 1.21 euros per liter. The price of cow's butter (a 125 gram packet) is up by 3.59% to 1.73 euros per piece. Frozen chicken meat became cheaper by 1.23% to 3.52 euros per kilogram, while eggs (size M) are up by 4.76% and are traded at 0.22 euros per piece wholesale.
Rice became cheaper by 1.32% to 1.65 euros per kilogram, and the price of lentils rose by 2.66% to 2.16 euros per kilogram. Ripe beans are traded at 2.06 euros per kilogram, which is 4.36% less. Flour type 500 increased in price by 0.26% to 0.77 euros per kilogram, and sugar - by 1.55% to 0.92 euros per kilogram. Oil became cheaper by 2.31% to 1.69 euros per liter.
