Average salary growth in the second quarter of 2026
In the second quarter of 2026, the average monthly gross salary in Bulgaria reached 1,444 EUR, marking an increase of 2.6% compared to the previous quarter, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) reported.
The trend of rising incomes continues, with year-on-year growth reaching 9.8%.
Where are salaries growing the fastest?
The most significant increase in monthly remuneration compared to the first quarter of 2026 is observed in the following sectors:
- Mining and quarrying – 14.8%
- Construction – 6.5%
- Education – 6.3%
Sectors with the highest and lowest remuneration
NSI data highlight a significant difference in salary levels according to economic activity:
- Highest paid: "Information and communication" (3,079 EUR), "Financial and insurance activities" (2,140 EUR), and "Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply" (2,036 EUR).
- Lowest paid: "Accommodation and food service activities" (918 EUR), "Agriculture, forestry and fishing" (1,031 EUR), and "Other service activities" (1,053 EUR).
Difference between sectors
The analysis shows that the private sector is outpacing the public sector in terms of growth rate – 11.5% compared to 4.8% on a year-on-year basis for the period April-June 2026.
