During a traffic control operation, police stopped a man riding an e-scooter without a helmet — the breathalyzer test showed nearly two times the legal alcohol limit.

During a targeted police operation in the town of Dupnitsa, officers detained a man riding an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol. According to Senior Inspector Krasimir Karaganov, the man was not wearing a helmet and smelled strongly of alcohol.
A breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol content of 1.55‰. The rider was fined 20 BGN in accordance with Bulgarian law. Confiscation of the vehicle is not legally required.
This incident marks the third similar case in the area recently. Authorities continue their efforts to monitor and regulate the use of personal electric vehicles on public roads.
