The police in Burgas are investigating a pharmacy for selling medication without a prescription following the case of a child who overdosed, the press center of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior announced.
According to the child, the medication for the treatment of epilepsy was purchased from a pharmacy in Burgas without the required medical prescription, as required by law. In this regard, police officers are clarifying the location of the commercial establishment, and the information gathered will be provided to the competent control institutions.
The data will be sent to the Executive Agency for Medicines, the Regional Health Inspectorate, and the National Health Insurance Fund, which should rule on the case within their powers.
Earlier, the University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment in Burgas announced that a child who had overdosed on medication for epilepsy had been saved. By law, the medication is sold only with a prescription, but it was bought freely in the pharmacy by a group of teenagers who decided to take it to "have fun," the hospital announced. After taking five 75mg pills, one of the boys collapsed on the street. He was admitted with a life-threatening condition. After a few days in the hospital, he was discharged home.
