On Tuesday, during a specialized operation to counter drug-related crimes, criminologists from the Sixth Police Department in Plovdiv conducted a search in a residential building in the "Stolipinovo" district. At the address, two envelopes containing a brown powdery substance in the form of lumps were found, which an expert assessment showed to be fentanyl with a total weight of over 99 grams. A 58-year-old man was detained for possession with the intent to distribute, and a pre-trial proceeding has been initiated against him.
A few days earlier, during a similar operation in the "Karshiyaka" district, their colleagues from the Third Police Department spotted a 37-year-old Plovdiv resident who fled, throwing a suspicious package and box on the ground. After a brief chase, the man was apprehended, and laboratory tests on the contents of the packages revealed the high-risk substances that the perpetrator had tried to get rid of - approximately 80 grams of amphetamine and more than 7 grams of marijuana. The man is known to the police for drug-related crimes. Within the framework of the initiated expedited proceedings, the supervising prosecutor has brought charges against him, and his detention has been extended to 72 hours.
