The healthcare sector in Burgas is experiencing a serious staff shortage, with nearly 40 vacant positions for medical specialists currently available. Data from the local Labor Bureau reveals a detailed picture of sought-after professionals in the healthcare field.

Statistics show a specific distribution of vacant positions: 11 places are reserved for doctors, 19 for paramedical specialists, and 9 for nurses and midwives. Additional research on online employment platforms confirms the trend, emphasizing the demand for nurses, dental doctors, and assistants with higher education.

Less represented in the labor market are opportunities for opticians, optometrists, medical representatives, pharmacists, and specialists in clinical laboratories. The total number of vacant positions at the Labor Bureau in Burgas amounts to 191 positions.

Parallel to local initiatives, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy (MLSP) has launched a national program "Choose Bulgaria", aimed at attracting Bulgarian specialists from abroad. Deputy Minister Natalia Efremova presented the details of the measure, which operates in two main components.

The first component is directed at Bulgarian citizens who have lived outside the country for at least 12 of the past 18 months or have recently graduated from education abroad. The second component aims to encourage internal mobility by stimulating workers in Bulgaria to accept positions in settlements with a population under 50,000.

The program is funded by the Human Resources Development Program and represents a targeted strategy to overcome staff shortages in various professional sectors, especially in healthcare.
