New rules for salaries in state hospitals

The Ministry of Health is introducing strict measures to limit the remuneration of hospital directors. The change is based on reducing the value of the point unit used for salary calculations to 60% of the minimum wage.

"I do not accept that a hospital should accumulate losses while its management receives remuneration as if for excellent work," stated Minister Katya Ivkova.

Key changes:

Hospitals where residents account for over 5% of the staff will receive bonus points, encouraging personnel development. The measure is already in force for 34 state hospitals and is set to be voted on for another 26 with mixed ownership.
