Tragic Toll on the Roads: One Dead and 24 Injured in a Single Day
The number of victims on the country's roads continues to rise, with one person losing their life and 24 others sustaining injuries in multiple severe road incidents over the last 24 hours. Data published on the Ministry of Interior's website paints a grim picture of road safety, with a total of 25 serious accidents registered.
The highest number of incidents was recorded in the capital, where there were five serious and 28 minor crashes. As a result, five people were injured in Sofia, which highlights the concentration of road incidents in large urban centers.
Worrying Trend: Rise in Road Incidents Since the Beginning of the Month
Statistics for the beginning of the month are also alarming. From the first day until now, nine people have died in crashes and 129 have been injured. The total number of registered serious road incidents during this period is 115, which shows a constant and high frequency of accidents, calling into question the effectiveness of road safety measures.
Annual Toll and Comparison with the Previous Year
Since the beginning of the year until now, the toll is even heavier. A total of 294 people have lost their lives in road traffic accidents, and 5800 have been injured.
Despite these tragic figures, the police report a slight improvement compared to the previous year. According to the data, during the same period in 2024, there were 303 fatalities. This means that in 2025 there is a decrease of nine people in the number of road fatalities, which is a small comfort against the backdrop of the thousands injured.
Nevertheless, road safety experts continue to insist on stricter measures and more enhanced control to reduce the number of victims and to increase the public responsibility of all road users.
