Severe road statistics
In the last 24 hours, 10 severe accidents have been registered in the country, resulting in one death and 13 injuries. Statistics from the beginning of 2026 show an alarming increase in incidents – 246 deaths so far, which is 25 more compared to the same period in 2025.

Current motorway repairs
- Trakia Motorway: Large-scale road marking and cleaning activities in the districts of Sofia, Pazardzhik, Stara Zagora, Sliven, and Burgas. Speed in many sections is limited to 80-100 km/h.
- Hemus Motorway: Repair work continues at the Topli Dol tunnel, and restrictions remain in place for heavy goods vehicles over 12 tons in certain sections.
- Struma Motorway: Temporary traffic organization has been introduced at the Daskalovo junction to ease traffic. There is an issue with the lighting in the Kocherinovo tunnel.
Mountain passes and main routes
We remind you that the Varbishki, Zlatishki, and Pamporovo passes remain closed year-round to all vehicles. Restrictions for heavy goods vehicles have also been introduced for the Aytoski, Vratnik, Dyulinski, Petrohan, Tvardishki, and Shipka passes.
