Serious accidents claim a life over the past 24 hours
Heavy traffic on the country's roads led to 10 serious traffic accidents over the last 24 hours. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the toll for the day is one fatality and 13 injured road users.
Since the beginning of the month, road traffic accidents have claimed the lives of 28 people, and 550 have been injured.
Increase in fatalities since the beginning of the year
Statistics since the beginning of 2026 show a negative trend. Currently, road fatalities stand at 246, and the number of injured has reached 4,311 people. Comparing this to the same period in 2025, when there were 221 fatalities, an increase of 25 people is recorded for the current year.
The situation in Sofia
In the capital, the situation remains relatively calm regarding the severity of the accidents. Over the past 24 hours, 14 minor traffic accidents were registered, in which no people were injured, and only material damage was caused.
