Over the past 24 hours, the country has reported alarming statistics regarding road safety, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced on its official website. The data reveals a dramatic picture on the roads, where 26 people were injured as a result of accidents. In the last 24 hours, a total of 22 serious traffic accidents were registered, leading to casualties and injuries.
In the capital, Sofia, the situation is also not rosy. 37 minor accidents were reported, along with three serious ones. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, but three people were injured as a result of these incidents.
The trend since the beginning of the month is causing particularly serious concern. A total of 303 accidents were reported, leading to 27 deaths and 380 injuries. Since the beginning of the year, the total number of traffic accidents has reached 5935. 400 people have lost their lives, and 7391 have been injured.
It is important to note the comparison with the data from the previous year. If we compare with the same period of 2024, we see a certain trend towards a decrease in the number of fatalities among road users. In 2025, according to the provided data, there are 16 fewer road deaths. Despite this positive nuance, the overall picture remains alarming, which necessitates the taking of urgent measures to improve road safety in the country.
