Bloody statistics on the roads
The past 24 hours were marked by serious road accidents. According to data from the Ministry of the Interior, 18 serious accidents were registered, in which two people died and 17 were injured. In the capital, the situation also remains tense with 28 registered accidents.
Important: Since the beginning of 2026, an increase of 17 road fatalities has been reported compared to the same period last year.
Motorway repairs
- Trakia Motorway: Large-scale mowing operations, repair of expansion joints (Yambol), and uneven road surfaces in the Sofia-Pazardzhik section.
- Hemus Motorway: Restrictions at the Topli Dol tunnel, repairs near Shumen and Varna.
- Struma Motorway: A landslide near Blagoevgrad necessitates a detour route. Temporary traffic at the Daskalovo junction.
Condition of mountain passes
As of May 13, 2026, the Vurbitsa, Zlatitsa, and Pamporovo passes remain closed. The Troyan Pass has a traffic control regime every 30 minutes, and the Petrohan Pass remains closed to heavy goods vehicles over 12 tons.
