The Parliament adopted a decision to declare February 14th as the Day of Bulgarian-Polish Friendship and Cooperation. The decision was taken unanimously with 165 votes "for".

It takes into account the joint initiative of the Presidents of Bulgaria and Poland, presented in 2025, expresses a desire for the development and strengthening of the long-standing traditionally good relations between the two peoples, including inter-parliamentary dialogue, and emphasizes the importance of the contribution of Cyril and Methodius to the construction of the spiritual unity of European civilization.

The proposal to declare February 14th as the Day of Bulgarian-Polish Friendship and Cooperation was submitted by MPs from the Bulgaria – Poland Friendship Group in the National Assembly. The date was carefully chosen, as on February 14th the Bulgarian Orthodox Church celebrates the Dormition of St. Constantine Cyril the Philosopher. On this day, Pope John Paul II declared Saints Cyril and Methodius co-patrons of Europe, the proposers point out in their motivations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed a positive opinion on the draft decision at a meeting of the Foreign Policy Committee in the National Assembly, noting that the day of the death of Cyril the Philosopher is honored in the Orthodox and Catholic Christian tradition.
