The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has issued a warning for significant rainfall in Bulgaria.
An orange code for second-degree rainfall has been declared in the regions of Blagoevgrad, Smolyan, Kardzhali, Haskovo, Sliven, and Burgas. A yellow code is in effect in other regions such as Kyustendil, Sofia-oblast, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Shumen, and Varna.
According to NIMH forecasts, Bulgaria will be under the influence of a Mediterranean cyclone, which will lead to intense rainfall in a large part of the country. By the evening, the rain will cover almost the entire territory of the country. The most significant amounts are expected in Southern Bulgaria, where there is also a probability of thunderstorms.
Almost no rainfall is expected in Northwest Bulgaria. Temperatures will be mainly between 7° and 12° C, with around 7° C predicted in Sofia. Temperatures will be slightly higher in Eastern Bulgaria.
It will be mostly cloudy with rain on the Black Sea coast, which will start from the south around noon and will cover the entire coast by the end of the day.
