Orange code for hot weather and potential storms
The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has issued a warning for dangerously high temperatures today. An orange code has been declared for parts of the Montana, Vidin, Vratsa, Pleven, Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad, Pazardzhik, and Plovdiv regions.
For the rest of the country, a yellow code for potentially dangerous weather is in effect, with only the Smolyan region and parts of Pernik, Pazardzhik, and the Sofia region remaining under a green code.
Weather forecast by region
- Inland areas: Sunny in the morning, with cumulus cloud development in the afternoon. Brief rain showers and thunderstorms are expected, mainly in Western and Northeastern Bulgaria.
- Temperatures: Maximum values will reach between 32° and 37°, around 32° in Sofia.
- Black Sea coast: Sunny weather with light wind. The seawater temperature is 25-26°, and the sea state is slight – 1-2 degrees.
- Mountains: Mostly sunny with the development of cumulus-rain clouds in the afternoon. At an altitude of 1200 meters, the temperature will be 26°, and at 2000 meters – around 18°.
Atmospheric pressure will decrease slightly and will be below the average for the month. Please be careful when spending time outdoors during the hottest hours of the day.
