In connection with the upcoming Christmas holidays and the expected heavy traffic, the Road Infrastructure Agency (API) is introducing restrictions on the movement of trucks over 12 tons on certain motorways.
The restrictions are in effect on December 23rd from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and affect the following sections:
- A1 "Trakia" - along its entire length.
- A3 "Struma" - along its entire length.
- A2 "Hemus" - from Sofia to the "Dermantsi" interchange (Sofia and Lovech regions).
Exceptions to the restrictions:
- Public transport of passengers.
- Transportation of dangerous goods (ADR), live animals, perishable food products, temperature-controlled goods, and specialized animal disposal trucks (on A2 "Hemus" and A3 "Struma").
- Transportation of dangerous goods (ADR) on the A1 "Trakia" section from the "Ihtiman" interchange to the "Vakarel" interchange (towards Sofia).
Reversible traffic in the Blagoevgrad region:
On December 23rd and 24th between 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM, reversible traffic will be introduced on road I-1/E-79 Sofia - Kulata, at the junction with A3 "Struma" and the "Simitli" road junction.
API appeals to drivers:
- To drive carefully and at a speed appropriate for the conditions.

- To travel with vehicles prepared for winter conditions.
