The National Fire Safety System reported an extremely dynamic 24-hour period with a total of 119 extinguished fires and 165 registered emergency signals. The official data, published by the General Directorate "Fire Safety and Population Protection", reveal the large-scale work of rescue teams.
Among the dramatic cases is the incident in Plovdiv, where a 69-year-old woman suffered burns on her limbs during a fire in her apartment. Medical specialists immediately transported the victim to a hospital, while firefighters were extinguishing the flames in the dwelling.
Another significant case was registered at the 16th kilometer of the Hemus Highway, where a cargo truck caught fire. Firefighters from the Sofia unit found that the burning had affected the insulation between the cabin and the body of the vehicle.
The statistics show that out of 25 fires with direct material damage, seven occurred in residential buildings, one in an industrial building, two in temporary structures, and seven in vehicles. In parallel, 94 fires without material damage were registered, including 52 in dry grass, forest vegetation, and shrubs.
Rescue teams performed 37 operations, including eight interventions in traffic accidents. They provided technical assistance to various departments, including the Ministry of Interior.
An interesting fact is that nine false calls were made during the past 24 hours. One of the fires necessitated a temporary closure of the Maritsa Highway, which was only reopened late in the evening.
