From today, all municipalities in the Varna region must indicate on their electronic websites phone numbers to which people can report signals related to the introduction of the euro, said the regional governor Prof. Andriyana Andreeva.

According to her, employees who will respond to complaints should also be appointed.

Andreeva specified that the topic was discussed at the first meeting of the Regional Coordination Center for Monitoring and Control in connection with the introduction of the euro on the territory of the region. It was created in implementation of a decision of the Council of Ministers from the end of last year, by order of the regional governor.

At the meeting, representatives of the municipalities pointed out that preliminary meetings with people had been held everywhere, information had been disseminated, brochures had been prepared and distributed, said Andreeva. According to her, this helped to prevent tension in the villages. In addition, those working in post offices and social services have undergone training.

So far, no signal has been submitted in any municipality for violations related to the introduction of the euro, Andreeva also said. She added that employees have also been appointed in the Regional Food Safety Directorate to receive complaints. At the meeting, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that there were no violations detected in the region, nor extraordinary tension in the work of the police.

Most signals have been submitted to the National Revenue Agency (NRA) and the Consumer Protection Commission (CPC), Andreeva added. According to her, the most frequent complaints to the tax authorities are for unjustified price increases for goods and services and a shortage of euros in post office branches. The situation is identical in the CPC. The Commission reported that from October to date, nearly 730 sites have been inspected, 32 acts have been drawn up, of which 10 are for unjustified price increases. A criminal ruling was issued to a hair salon.

From the first meeting of the Center, it became clear that there is good coordination between the institutions in the region, Andreeva pointed out. She clarified that every Friday they must submit summarized information to the regional administration, which will then be sent to the Council of Ministers. It will also be presented to the media.
