On January 6, 2026 /Tuesday/ marks the 178th anniversary of the birth of Hristo Botev. Pomorie Municipality invites everyone who wishes to lay flowers as a sign of respect and gratitude, at 11:30 a.m. in front of the monument to the poet revolutionary in the garden next to the "Svetlina 1939" Community Center.
Hristo Botev was born in Kalofer on January 6, 1848, in the family of the famous Revival teacher Botyo Petkov. His brilliant poetic work, devotion to the homeland, and unwavering will in the struggle for freedom have earned him a place among the sacred symbols of Bulgaria. And hatred of oppression and faith in the revolution are what he will never change and will turn into the driving force of his short life. Botev lived only 28 years, but remains in the national memory as one of the greatest Bulgarian poets and revolutionaries.
