About the Troyan Monastery
The Troyan holy sanctuary holds a special place in Bulgarian history. It is one of the three stauropegial monasteries in the country, directly subordinate to the Holy Synod. In terms of size, the monastery ranks third in Bulgaria, after the Rila and Bachkovo monasteries, and is home to the precious "Three-Handed" icon, which has been kept there since the 17th century.
