The Municipality of Nessebar signed an agreement with the State Fund "Agriculture" for non-refundable financial assistance for energy modernization of the "Lyuben Karavelov" Secondary School, the municipal administration announced. The investment is worth 415,022 leva and is financed under the Strategic Plan for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Areas (2023 - 2027).
The project provides for the installation of a rooftop photovoltaic power plant (PV) for own needs with a capacity of 152 kW. The system will also include batteries for energy storage with a capacity of 112 kWh, which will allow optimization of consumption and reduction of costs through the use of the generated resource during non-sunlight hours.
"With this project, "Lyuben Karavelov" Secondary School becomes an example of a modern and energy-efficient educational institution," said Mayor Nikolay Dimitrov. According to him, the investment is part of the municipality's policy for transition to green energy and rational management of resources. The introduction of the new facilities aims to significantly reduce carbon emissions and achieve greater energy independence of the educational infrastructure in the city.
