Modernization of fire protection
Minister of Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev, Minister of Labor and Social Policy Natalia Efremova, and the Director of the General Directorate for Fire Safety and Population Protection (GDFSPP) Alexander Dzhartov officially delivered new equipment for the needs of the fire service. The equipment is provided under the "Human Resources Development" Program 2021–2027 and is co-financed by the European Union.
"We have united our efforts to create an action plan that starts with prevention and ends with effective firefighting operations," emphasized Minister Demerdzhiev.
Technological innovations in firefighting
- Use of drones: GDFSPP is introducing unmanned aerial vehicles for the rapid detection and localization of fires.
- Inter-agency cooperation: "Border Police" will provide logistical support for the transport of equipment and aerial surveillance.
- Local-level prevention: A direct link has been established with the Executive Forest Agency and mayors in high-risk areas for better coordination.
The demonstration of the new equipment shows the readiness of the institutions for the fire season that has begun. The goal is to reduce response times and provide more effective protection for the population and forest areas.
