Two consecutive evenings are needed to update the electronic toll system, announced the National Toll Administration (NTA). The upcoming update, which is essential for improving the system's functionality, may cause temporary difficulties for drivers who plan to purchase a vignette or route card during specific time intervals.
Update Schedule
According to the official NTA announcement, the update activities will take place on Wednesday, August 27, and Thursday, August 28. The first phase of the update is planned for the period from 8:00 PM on August 27 to 1:00 AM after midnight on August 28. The second phase will take place in the same time slot – from 8:00 PM on August 28 to 1:00 AM after midnight on August 29.
"During these periods, which cover the late evening hours and the beginning of the night, it is possible for problems to arise with electronic payments and the issuance of toll fees. The National Toll Administration explicitly emphasized that despite the discomfort that may be caused, the update is a necessary step to maintain the system."
In this regard, the administration strongly recommends that all drivers who have a trip planned within the specified days and times secure their necessary toll fee in advance to avoid potential problems and delays.
What should drivers of heavy goods vehicles know?
The NTA specified that the upcoming update will not affect the automatic reporting of the traveled distance for heavy goods vehicles weighing over 3.5 tons. For these vehicles, the tolling system, which works through on-board devices and GPS trackers, will continue to function without disruption. At the end of its announcement, the National Toll Administration apologized to all drivers for the inconvenience caused, emphasizing that the measure is temporary and has been undertaken in the interest of the long-term stability and effectiveness of the electronic toll system.
