Exchange of banknotes and coins from levs to euros is carried out at the cash desks of the territorial units of the “Cash Services Company” in Sofia (Ovcha Kupel), Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas, and Pleven.
In Varna, a large part of the people choose Saturday because it's more peaceful. Many of them exchange levs for euros for the first time, while others exchange coins collected over the years. The BNB cash desk in Varna is open until 4:00 PM.
Citizens share about high commissions in commercial banks when exchanging coins: “Coins that I have collected over time, and again we are forced to bank terror, literally. Several banks asked me for a 5-6% commission to exchange them, given that the banks do not have coin-counting machines.”
Another citizen shares why they chose the BNB: “Levs. Why did you choose the BNB? Well, because I read in the press that today on Saturday there will be an opportunity to exchange them, because I am at work on the other days.”
