No danger of pollution in the Gulf of Burgas
An inter-institutional inspection has categorically rejected claims of a fuel or oil spill in the Gulf of Burgas. Rumors regarding the presence of fuel oil around Pomorie and Sarafovo were refuted following an immediate response from the Regional Administration.
The inspection, carried out on July 23, 2026, covered the water area around the ships "Kairos" and "Miriam V," during which no leaks were detected.
Inspection results
- A drone was used for a detailed inspection of the water.
- Divers from the Regional Directorate for Fire Safety and Civil Protection did not find any contamination below the surface.
- A team of experts from the Maritime Administration confirmed the technical integrity of the vessels.
It was determined that previous discoloration of the water around the ship "Kairos" had been treated in a timely manner with an authorized dispersant, and the marks on the vessel are due solely to repair work. The Ministry of Transport maintains contact with the shipowners to ensure the safety of the tourist season on the Southern Black Sea coast.
