Operation against illegal fishing in Burgas
During a large-scale joint operation by officials from the Executive Agency for Fisheries and Aquaculture (EAFA) and the Fourth District Police Department of the Ministry of Interior, serious violations were uncovered in the area of Vaya Lake.
As a result of the inspections, three boats and over 450 meters of gillnets used for illegal fishing were seized.
How did the operation unfold?
- Inspectors discovered two boats on the shore near the Gorno Ezerovo district.
- Upon the appearance of the inspection teams by water and land, the perpetrators retreated and hid.
- In the course of a follow-up inspection, a third rigid-hulled boat was found, which did not have the mandatory external marking.
Consequences for the offenders
All discovered equipment has been confiscated. The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement authorities are working to identify the individuals involved in the illegal activity.
